HISTORY

BIOKOSMA's story began in 1935 with Rudolf Müller, the "Life Reformer", in a small health food shop at Rennweg 15 in Zurich. He laid the foundation of the BIOKOSMA® brand when he developed his first product – a lemon face cream.

Max Steidle took over the business in the 1940s. As a trailblazer in the field of healthy nutrition, extremely well versed in the power of nature, he developed the BIOKOSMA brand into the Swiss pioneer of natural cosmetics.

Under his management, BIOKOSMA found a new home in the buildings of a former embroidery factory in Ebnat-Kappel in the Toggenburg region. The products were manufactured in enamel pans over gas burners. Mindful of the power of nature, they did not use paraffin oils even in those days. The premises were expanded several times, then a new building with the latest solar collectors and heat pumps was erected in 1979.

True to its philosophy, BIOKOSMA stopped using aluminium tubes, parabens and musk compounds back in the 1990s. All ingredients were declared as early as 1992; the legal obligation to do so only came into force six years later.

From the start, Max Steidle made face and body care products with carefully selected herbal ingredients from Switzerland. He energetically expanded BIOKOSMA into a famous natural cosmetics brand that he adapted to constantly changing customer needs. Animal testing was barred from the very start.

Following Max Steidle's innovative spirit and principles, Swiss organic plants are still at the heart of BIOKOSMA's current product development today. As a Swiss natural cosmetics brand, it has an impressive attraction for natural cosmetics customers in Switzerland, other European countries and the Far East with its performance and innovations.

To this day, all the products are developed and produced in Switzerland, in the heart of the mountains. BIOKOSMA carefully processes selected organic herbal ingredients, gently and with state-of-the-art technology.

Since 2010, newly developed products have been NATRUE certified and thus represent 100% certified natural cosmetics.
